Johri added that the export cargo's average release time, which is determined by the interval between the time of the shipment's arrival at the port and the moment it actually departs, has been cut in half. Average release times of 24 hours and 12 hours, respectively, have been set as goals for exports made by seaports and airports under the Trade Facilitation Action Plan, which expires in 2023.
"Regulatory authorities should expedite their release times even more... The goal is extremely difficult... We are really deliberately trying to cut down on the typical release time," Johri added. He added that the time required after customs clears the shipments accounts for 80 to 85% of the average release time for export cargo.
